My dash is full of girls complaining about the rape scene in Game of Thrones and guys trying to defend it, so here’s the basic complaint: if they weren’t raped in the books, why put it in the show. It completely destroyed Jaime’s character and changed the entire relationship between Daenerys & Drogo. By making those changes but keeping the rest of the characters’ stories the same, the showrunners are sending the message that the difference is unimportant and rape doesn’t even matter. It becomes some trivial detail guys can’t be bothered with, and girls are “too emotional” or need to “lighten up.”
